Thousands joined a colourful Taoist procession in Taipei to protest the Taiwan government’s call to reduce the burning of incense sticks, which it says will help combat pollution. About 100 temples took part in the demonstration, where performers carried statues of Taoist gods on their shoulders while others danced in larger-than-life costumes.
